Is the directv billing address separate from the the directv address where the receiver is located?

Is the directv billing address separate from the the directv address where the receiver is located?  My receiver is in Chicago, but the address on the credit card is in Phoenix.  Which address is the billing address?

Billing address is where the bill is sent, regardless of where the service is installed. So common for a P.O. Box or even another residence (such as if someone has 2 accounts and sends both bills to the same place).

Now if you are being asked for this when paying by card, then that is referring to the billing address of the card itself (not the address DirecTV sends their bill). So they are asking for the info to properly bill the card.

Thanks for the quick reply.

You may want to recheck.  I recently updated my credit card on directv.  It asks only for the name on the card, card number, expiration date and code.  I entered all that data and the card was accepted.  Billing Address is a separate link.  That, I did not update because I wasn't sure of what it referenced.

The accepted credit card has a different address than the Billing Address on my directv account and yet, it was accepted.

In a big company, the credit card address would be included in the credit card update.  In a big company, the billing address would be separate.

@juniper Thanks for the help, but having a single address for two purposes is probably not correct.

The billing address link has nothing to do with the credit card. That is simply the address the bill is sent to, if you are not on paperless billing.

If it required a billing address during payment, then that would be for the card. There is no requirement the card's billing address be the same for your DirecTV account as those are different things.

So when you update card info, only update what is on that page. Anything beyond that has nothing to do with that update.

There should be three addresses:

Credit card address...like on every web business...everywhere.  Even gas stations will ask for your credit card zipcode.

A Billing address...used if a paper bill is sent

An equipment address

directv has two.

You can argue if you want, but directv has an a web system designed by people who do not understand their own company.

Yes the two addresses would be billing and service. For many that will be the same.

Nothing requires them to have a 3rd address for the card. And having one or not doesn't mean they don't understand their own company. Just a choice they made. You don't have to agree with it.

DTV only needs one address, the service address where the receivers and dish where installed.  They send the paper bill there unless you provided a different billing address or you give them an email address to send it there.

Question was answered factually, which I thought would clear up the confusion. But OP seems to take offense on how it works claiming (falsely) that DirecTV is the only one in existence to do it differently.

Not to drag this too far, but I've designed and developed ERP systems used in Global companies around the world.  If I handed in a page like that on DT, I would have been sent back to the coding board.  Even though my question was never answered, thanks for the efforts.  If DT gets its money from my credit card, then mission accomplished.  If they don't, I guess they can contact me using their "different" system.

Question was answered, but if not clear...

Billing address and address where receiver is located (service address) are separate in their system. Though they in many cases are the same.

Service address is where box is physically at (matters for taxes, RSNs/professional sport teams, and taxes required to be paid. Only changeable with a Movers order.

Billing address is just where a paper bill would be sent. May be different from service address, such as going to a P.O. Box. Can be changed at will as needed. Has nothing to do with updating card info.

At this time AT&T/DirecTV does not require the card's billing address for updating the info. That of course could change, but currently nothing requires them to do so. They design their website as they choose. Though with both the migration of DirecTV's information into the account access on the AT&T site and delays from Covid, additional updates on the website are expected going forward.

You may have designed and developed systems around the world, but some like AT&T/DirecTV at this time are setup differently.
