Local Channel Connector for HS17
Just a quick question, I'm in a market that is affected by the Nexstar and CBS blackout. My equipment is an HS17 (Genie 2). Should I even bother to try and get the LCC? I'm hearing on other forums that the HS17 isn't supported.

@sragnetti
The Local Channel Connector (LCC) is only compatible with the 2nd and 3rd generation Genie (HR44 and HR54). It is not compatible with the Genie-2 (HS17).
This is one of many downsides to the HS17. The fact the HS17 forbids full HDDVRs from being on the account, so being Client only, is the main reason I am against this new system.

This deal is getting worse all the time. I'm about ready to jump ship if they don't get this thing fixed soon.

DirecTV provides access to locals in general. There is no guarantee/promise that any specific channel will always be provided, as that would be impossible since they don't own the channels.
As such their Terms of Service have a clause, just like any other provider that channels may change at any time. So the contract is not broken.
(d) Our Programming Changes.
Many factors affect the availability, cost and quality of programming and may influence the decision to raise prices and the amount of any increase. These include, among others, programming and other costs, consumer demand, market and shareholder expectations, and changing business conditions. Accordingly, we reserve the unrestricted right to change, rearrange, add or delete our programming packages, the selections in those packages, our prices, technologies used to deliver the Service, and any other Service we offer, at any time.
