DirecTV is losing money, so discounts are few and far between. And you can't just cancel and rejoin as a "new customer". You need to be gone at least 2 years before you're a "new customer" again. If you need to save $$$ consider reducing your equipment or channel package.

Though chances of getting a discount are slim already, they are probably even slimmer calling on a Sunday. Try calling during normal business hours on a weekday and say “cancel service” at the voice prompt to get routed to retention.

If you are not under contract and you want to save money and still stay with Directv you could always consider Directv Stream you would end up saving in the long run because you won't have to pay fees for DVR service or for your receivers as long as you can get internet service.

You cannot just start over as a new customer. That would be attempting fraud. It must be at least over 2 years before they 'might' consider you a new acquisition. Simply put, by definition you are only supposed to be a 'new' customer once.

Discounts are not something anybody is entitled too. They certainly are nice when they are there, but always plan for regular cost. If the bill is too high for you, then it is your responsibility to reduce services until in a comfortable budget. If that doesn't work for you, then cancel and go somewhere else.

Welcome to the reality of financial responsibility. You mange what you can afford, not expect that companies must give you a discount because you try to live beyond your means. TV is entertainment, not a life requirement.
