Missing tear off from the January statement. We sent the money order, but it was not posted to our account
The January statement for Direct tv had no tear off to send back! We sent the Money Order for $92.53 in a regular business envelope with a copy of the top of the statement with all the information. The Money Order was cashed on February 11, but not posted to our account.
Now AT&T is demanding double payment. We are really disappointed. Why--in the first place--was there no return tear off to send back?
No one seems to have any answers for us.

Payment shows went through, but not posted to your account? Likely it was misapplied to the wrong account then. You need to submit this to DirecTV so they can track it down.

Alternatively, log into your account online to pay your bill or even setup automatic payments if your finances allow. Just remember to review the bill every so often, at least aware of the amount each month.
As for no tear-off, don't know for sure. But many companies have been progressing to more paperless options so that could be a factor.

Thank you! for your suggestions. Very little help from anyone at AT&T or DirecTV. Local offices have no ideas. Customer service by phone says we have until March 17.???? Meantime the statement we get is for two months plus late fee.
I appreciate you, and will try the email you suggested.

DirecTV has never had local offices. AT&T offices aren't employed on the DirecTV side, especially since DirecTV has been moved over to the new co-owner. Just something to be aware of as those offices tend not to be knowledgeable about DirecTV itself.
When a bill comes out with a past due, it lists the date service would be interrupted by if the past due portion is not completely paid by. I gather that is what the 17th is that you mentioned.
The link I provided is their webform, not an email itself (though naturally you do list yours if they need to send you a response). Traditionally, within 10 business days is the expectation but that hasn't been consistent since the pandemic. If you're coming up on the 17th and still not resolved, then you will either need to make a direct payment or see if you can setup a payment arrangement (pushes back the interruption date).
As a caution, paying from any 3rd party method (so not over the phone with DirecTV or through their website) can take up to 3 business days to post. And it is that posting date, not submission date, that matters for if it counts as past due or if in time to avoid interruption.
