MLB Extra Innings

I bought MLB Extra Innings in April while in Florida using my Florida account.  I would like to transfer the remainder of that package to my Connecticut account but Directv says they can't transfer a package from one account to another even though they did it for me in the past after a lot of hassling.  I don't want to have to order the package again.  Any advice would be appreciated.

How did they do that in the past

Sorry but seasonal sport subscriptions are tied to their accounts so cannot be transferred. Whatever was done in the past was probably a lot of account and billing gymnastics that they weren't supposed to do, hence it being a "hassle" as you say.

Updates have been made, including a new billing account system, to prevent such abuse of the system. You may not like it, but it is the reality.

I don't see how its "abuse of the system" to transfer the unused portion of the life of. a package from an account that I own in one state but which I suspended for the summer to an account that I also own in another state in which I'm residing for the summer.  I would call it abuse of the customer's ownership rights and poor customer relations!  Probably one of many reasons DTV is losing customer's.

They are two different accounts at two different addresses. It is literally impossible to transfer your sports subscription from your one account to your other. There is simply no way that the system can do that. What they probably did before was just add it on your account and give you a credit for what you already paid for it on your other account.

The sports subscription doesn't care how much you have used it. It is tied to the account. Remember what is in-market and taxes you are required to pay are based on the service address. So not only what is allowed is per address, but the leagues (MLB, NBA, etc.) bill per account. Having multiple accounts doesn't mean you can use one subscription for each of them, even if your intention is just one at a time.

I concur that most likely they just added to one and gave credits to off-set the cost, which was against the rules. Sorry but a one-time violation by an doesn't mean you can enjoy it again in the future.

if it is as you say, the system is too rigid and inflexible.  rules can be bent in order to keep a customer.  apparently they are not interested in keeping me.

Sorry but rules don't bend simply because you don't like them. You are not so special that the rules don't apply to you. If you cannot accept that then certainly go ahead and cancel your service. If you refuse to pay the service as it is setup and costs, then you are not worth it as a customer.

Must be nice to be an "ACE" in your own mind!

DirecTV and MLB set the rules on how the sport subscription works. FCC regulates what is allowed per individual address (not shared between multiple addresses). That is what all us customers must go by.

Whatever was done in the past was something very lucky. The only way it is feasible to have worked was adding it and throwing credits at the account(s). Because of situations like that, they have pulled back legitimate promotions while they address that issue and deal with customers who have been hemorrhaging the business.

Bottom line is accounts are separate with promotions not interchangeable. Taxes and allowed sports teams are specific to the physical address. Just some reasons why sports subscriptions are not transferable, even between multiple accounts you may have.

The "ACE" tag is provided by the forum. It is a program that recognizes posters who have contributed a lot in a helpful manner. You may not like the responses, but they have been truthful and in line with reality. Leave the petty insults at the door please. If you don't like how the rules work, then just cancel as you've been suggesting and be done with it.
