Not being able to cancel service is incredibly unethical and possibly illegal
They take our business online, and our money, but when it comes time to cancel you have to call in. That's unethical. But, now, under the current circumstances, with no one at AT&T manning the phones it may be illegal. They are forcing me to pay for something I do not want. It's almost fraudulent.

Place a claim with BBB as well, I'm having a similar issue and just placed one myself along with a dispute with the collection agency. Hopefully they'll try harder to correct if a third party gets involved.

There is nothing illegal about it. Sorry that there is a NATIONAL issue going on right now which is making the hold times longer.
