Proof that my equipment doesn't have to be returned.
I canceled my account on 12/8. I received a final bill and it states that I will get an email with return instructions in 2-4 days. No email has arrived. I called and spoke with 4 agents and 2 supervisors over the last week and all say that I don't have to return the equipment but nobody can send written proof that equipment is non-returnable. It is bad business practice to not provide proof to a customer for their protection. I have read of people going through this and ending up with a large bill for not returning equipment.
I am at wit's end. What do I do? I can't epnd another hour on chat or phone when each one says "we can't send anything" I have spent 5 hours on this over the past week.

Hi Juniper --- according to 4 agents and 2 supervisors my equipment is too old. (equipment is HR34-700 and C41W-100)
I live 120 miles from nearest UPS and FEDEX drop --- so that is out of the question (rural NM) - AND we are in quarantine. The last agent said he was unable to send out a box because the system says they are non-returnable and won't create the order for box/label.
This is such poor business practice -- how hard is it to send a confirmation that they are non-returnable in the event that somebody screws up and bills me.

Constructive -- the last agent said he cannot send out box or label - they are non-returnable. I live 120 miles from nearest UPS or FEDEX facility. I give up.

I can 100% assure you that @Juniper knows as much if not more than any agent you speak with, he is the resident directv expert.

The HR34 is non returnable. The C41W may or may not be so hang on to it in case they ask for it back.
You should recycle the HR34 by removing the access card and keep in case they send a envelope for it after 30 days you can dispose of it then take the HR34 TO AN Ewaste center or go to this website for a shipping label.

thanks to all that replied. As I noted above, I spoke with 4 agents and 2 supervisors -- all said don't return equipment. The last agent was unable to print out labels or boxes and said that meant the equipment was non-returnable. I will hold onto C41W and see what happens. It makes me terribly anxious that I cannot get a confirmation email stating that the equipment is non-returnable. But this is why I canceled Directv, the service is really not good

thanks Juniper - the last supervisor said they cannot send box or print labels because the equipment is non-returnable. So I will keep the boxes and watch out for notices from Directv. I appreciate your taking the time to answer.

The H21s are not returnable, the H24 is iffy if there is a UPS/FedEx store near by take it to them.

Thanks for the fast reply .
Just got an email today. The H24 is the only one of the 5 they want back.
Considering the manufacture date is 2010 that's strange but OK.
And the H21 are dated 2008 LOL.
Again thank you for your help

They use a lot of Hs for business as they are not allowed to record programs.
