Re: Why the first bill is more expensive?
Why is your service so expensive for Senior Citizens? I live in the country and really can't afford 147.00 a month....you should have a discounted price for Seniors...we just have the complete package and movie channels we don't even watch!!

It would be nice for AT&T to have discounted prices for seniors but they don't.Seniors pay the same as everyone else. If you're paying for something you don't use, switch to a cheaper package. If you can't afford the service, switch to a different one.

Based on your post, you are asking about TV service. You posted in the cell phone forum. If $147 is too much, call AT&T and cut the fat. Cut DVR, cut extra channels. Or install an antenna and cut service out completely.

I moved this to the DirecTV forum.
As for my answer, yes, there are companies who offer senior discounts on all types of services but there are a lot of other companies that don't. I don't work for AT&T so I can say maybe AT&T doesn't care if seniors use its service. If you don't like it, switch to a TV service that does have a discount. Maybe if enough seniors switch, AT&T will change its mind.

Pay tv is a luxury not a necessity, very few pay tv providers offer a senior citizen discount.

DirecTV does not charge Senior Citizens more than other customers. You are not being singled out.
Correct, DirecTV does not have category of customer discounts (senior citizen, military, low-income, etc.). Any discounts are based on your individual account. However, before you call to discuss if any discounts are available, check against the channels you truly use. Some channels are in lowering costing packages then they used to be, so good to verify that you have the right package for you personally. The package can be changed at any time, so you could even reduce the package for a while and raise it back up when it becomes more comfortable for your budget.
In the end pay TV is a luxury entertainment service. Unlike actual utilities (water, electric, etc.) there is no requirement or expectation that they give specials simply because you cannot afford it. You do not get the luxury car at economy car pricing. So if you need to then reduce the service or cancel it if you cannot afford it. It is up to you to be financially responsible, not a business to give you discounts because you don't have enough to pay.
