Call DirecTV to deactivate the box. If returnable you take to a FedEx or UPS Store that participates in their free return program. Get receipt showing they took possession.
If over 10 miles away from a participating shipper, then the old method of sending you a prepaid return kit to your physical service address by FedEx, for return by USPS (not UPS) is done.

You have to be outside of a ten mile radius of a UPS/FedEx store to get a return kit.
You take any returnable receivers to a UPS/FedEx store where they scan it and give you a receipt.
