Returning equipment

I purchased my reciever. You are telling me I have to return it? I don't see that happening.

What model is it? Receivers haven't been "owned " for a long time and the ones that could be owned have been non returnable for at least 10 years.

If DirectTV is asking for the receiver to be returned, sorry, you don’t own it. What you paid for it, regardless of where you got it from, was a lease fee. As noted above, actual owned receivers would be too old to be returned.

Owned options are from about 20 years ago. Most likely you paid a one-time lease cost for the box. If you paid to an authorized retailer, then it absolutely was leased as they were not permitted owned options.

What is the model of box? It is possible you just got a generic notice reminding to send back returnable models. Even if box is leased, it might be an earlier model they don't want back anymore.

I've had this since way before AT&T was part of Directv.

If you've had the box before AT&T acquired DirecTV, then most likely it is non-returnable. To be sure, what is the model number? You can find it on a label behind the access card door or on the bottom of the box.
