Reward card scam

I got DIRECTV on February 28th 2023 and was supposed to get a 300.00 rewards card. They sent me a card with only 200.00 on it. I made several calls to no avail. What a bunch of …. Folks this is what you call bait and switch! Oh here’s some savings on your account direct (ATT) charge a monthly fee for warranty work wich you do not really need 8.00-9.00 a month which you can cancel and save about 140.00 a year they don’t disclose to you! Look at your bill.

Thank You Att Direct you lost a customer before you even have one will be canceling at the appropriate time!!!!

Thank You

Hello there. Not getting the offer you were promised and still do not get the assistance you expect is not what we want you to experience. We want to keep you in our family. Please let us take a closer look at this issue with your reward. You will receive a PM to continue working on this together. Gabriel, DIRECTV Community Specialist

@Runner1976

Was the reward card from DirecTV itself or a 3rd party? Was it on the order confirmation emailed to you, and if so for what amount? Any fine print that affected the maximum amount of the card?

The monthly fee you refer to is not for warranty work but an optional equipment protection plan. DirecTV has a 90 day worry free guarantee on their install. So if they have to go back out within that time, they are not supposed to charge for the service call. As you own everything upon install, except the receiver/client boxes, service calls are $99 if you need them there later (because they are working on what you own). Boxes since they are leased just have a $19.95 delivery cost if one must be replaced. In the old owned days, warranty was just for 1 year and after that you paid for a new box if needed (i.e. $499 HDDVR).

If the protection plan was not on the order confirmation, then that was added by the tech on-site. A bad tech will do this without discussing with you or checking the box even if you declined. Good thing is that there is a 30 day no charge/no claim period for it so as long as you aren't ignoring the bills you can see it and get it removed before too long.

AT&T has spun off DirecTV to becoming its own entity once again. A new co-owner is handling the service now. So any questions or concerns you go over with DirecTV, not AT&T itself.

I got DIRECTV on February 28th 2023

That's a contradiction as you're already a customer, not before you've become one. As for "appropriate time", you have a 24 month service agreement (per all intro offers). If you choose to close the account before than, you would have an early cancellation fee (ECF) valued at $20 for each month remaining. Just a heads up so you have no other surprises.

It was a DIRECTV rewards Visa card for 300.00. I only received a 200.00 one! DIRECTV did not follow through with their offer. Talked to several customer reps and got plenty of excuses as to why but the bottom line is I lost 100.00 that was promised to me.

Thank You

I was clarifying information so you are better informed going forward. Best to understand options so you get what is best for you. I don't find the protection plan a good value as with how seldom you should need a service call or a replacement box, it is cheaper to pay the one-time costs when/if needed.

And yes saying you became a customer back in February and then saying that you are lost before becoming a customer made the 2nd part a contradiction. Having a statements that don't make sense can just muddle the waters. To that point, please leave the snide sarcasm at the door. Like others, I was only trying to help.

As long as the order confirmation showed $300, and there was no fine print for a reason to lower it (such as package level), then you work with DirecTV to resolve. If over the phone they cannot correct or escalate it, you can file a BBB complaint to send this to the corporate level.

Thanks for the input I appreciate it:) It’s the principle not the money. Don’t tell a customer they are going to get whatever and don’t follow through with it. I would rather write about my experience. All I have is time. Again thanks for your help!

Was that on www.directv.com or somewhere else (authorized retailer)? I ask as DirecTV no longer has the NFL Sunday Ticket for residential customers. The NFL went with YouTube, only leaving it as an option for commercial accounts (sports bars, etc.) for DirecTV.
