Service for my rv when i have a genie system at my house

Hello I have a question. I had a genie 2 system in my house. What do I need to do to get my rv receiver working again off my portable dish?

If you have the Genie-2 (HS17) then you cannot use the other receiver ever again. This is because the HS17 FORBIDS other receivers from being on the account, only allowing Clients. This restriction by design is the biggest problem for this system, which results in making it unfriendly for RV users.

Some choose to take their HS17 and however many Clients in the RV. But you still need a SWM MPEG-4 setup, either a home SWM slimline dish on tripod or sled mount that you manually aim or the Winegard Trav'ler which is specifically made for RVs. Older dishes and domes need to be replaced as DirecTV has been shutting down the old MPEG-2 feeds since April 2019.

Even if you "upgrade" to a regular Genie, 2nd or 3rd generation (HR44 or HR54) where you can use receivers again, you still will need to get a new one to replace what is in the RV. Even if the RV box is MPEG-4, the new system no longer allows reactivation of boxes. So when a box is deactivated it is returned to DirecTV (per it is leased), or recycled if too old. The temporary deactivating and reactivating was from the old days where it was more common to have owned boxes.
