Strange email
I received an email with the subject "Signal degradation detected – Complimentary Service Tech Visit". When I contacted the 1-800 number, I was told that they could find no record of the email being sent to me. Please advise.

It's a SCAM Fishing email --by calling you verified yourself --expect a lot more fishing for your personal information.
If you did NOT request any information --DO NOT respond to anything.

Just to be clear, I called the 1-800 number on the Directv website. I didn't call any numbers in the email.

Well, that explains why they had no idea what you were taking about

Good thing you didn’t call the number in the email. As noted, it was a scam.

So DIRECTV@message.att-mail.com is not an email address that Directv uses?

DirecTV has absolutely no way to know your signal is degraded, unless you call them about a problem. The satellite signal is one-way. No status of condition of service can go back to them.
Good for you calling the number publicly available on their website, not any contact in the email That email was a SCAM.
Suggestion that you do not post the email itself as there are those who might accidently use it, or data farm it, resulting in routing victims to the scam accidently.

I received the same email. The email knew my first name. The email directs me only to official DIRECTV web pages on all links it contains. It does not contain any phone numbers to call. It does not request any personal or account information. DIRECTVhelp's message above says that is not the type of message that is sent but does not directly answer the question about whether that is an official DIRECTV email account. I contacted DIRECTV directly and they tried to sell me the DIRECTV PROTECTION PLAN when I mentioned the email. If it is not an official email then it goes through a lot of trouble to convince the reader without actually doing anything that you would see in a spam or phishing email. The email reads as follows:
As a valued customer, we would like to offer you a complimentary maintenance visit. No gimmicks. No strings. Just pure VIP treatment for our loyal customers.
Receiving a strong, uninterrupted satellite signal to your home is the key to enjoying the best DIRECTV experience. However, over time, natural occurrences (eg. tree overgrowth) and inclement weather can misalign your satellite dish and affect the signal reception.
We perform complimentary service visits for long-standing DIRECTV customers; thus, we would like to schedule a home visit with one of our trained technicians who will:
• Check your satellite dish, receiver(s), and other equipment
• Run additional diagnostics
• Make any service adjustments to improve performance
SERIOUSLY, this won’t cost you a cent. We just want to make sure you’re getting the best possible service/signal from us. Just tell us what day and time works best for you, and we will be there.
Schedule Appointment
Thanks for being a loyal DIRECTV customer. We appreciate you trusting DIRECTV with your passion for premium entertainment, and we look forward to servicing your account.

@mariarelish0513 that email is not fake, it is the real DIRECTV as there are real links to the website. Although, it is always good to never click any links without first verifying the email sender. For example, if the email seems suspicious and not worthy of a professional company, then it truly is. Horrible grammar and poor punctuation are also easy signs of a bait email.
As a side note, DIRECTV has NO clue about signal degradation unless you tell them about it. Therefore, if you ever receive a weird email about it, just assume it a bait email. Since DIRECTV satellite reception is only one-way, they have no way of telling that your satellite signal is poor.

DTV has enough complaints about appointments to send techs out to install and fix their system being missed/canceled then they add this.
