Transfer service after mom death

My mom passed away and I am trying to transfer service to my dad, I have talked to a million people and I have received no help. This is ridiculous of such a large company and during this time of mourning I have been on the phone for hours with nothing but people transferring me from person to person. I have been dealing with all other companies and this by far has been to the only company to cause me a headache.

you cannot transfer it into her name, she has to do it

but call back, say cancel at the prompt

you will get retentions, explain to them

you will need the death certificate and other info

@loshuntai1 .

With your mom passed away, your dad (the legal surviving spouse) must be the one to speak to DirecTV. You cannot do this for him as that would go along the lines of identity theft (even though that is not your intention). You can be there on the call with him, they just have to speak with him directly.

Call DirecTV back and when you get the voice system say "cancel" which will route you to their cancellation/retention department. Normally more experienced agents, and your dad is trying to retain the service. Be prepared to submit documentation (such as death certificate) to complete the process.
