Unjust policy/Theft
Called Direct tv today to cancel my service, I was thanked for my many years of subscribing to them. They tried offering me many other packages including my same one for less money to keep me. I stated I just wanted to cancel and didn't want to hear about any other options. They stated they respected my choice but then continued to try and sell me a plan. Once she understood I didn't want service she would cancel at the end of my monthly service since they already took the money. I stated I wanted it canceled today and refunded the difference. That is NOT their policy I was told. I went to a supervisor and was told the same thing. I asked what happens when you change your policy that states when a person cancels their service we will just charge another $1000 due to lost revenue. If I don't sign an agreement then they should have no right to take monies past the date of my cancellation not continue service until theyy decide what day it is to be cancel. The electric company doesn't do this they stop charging when you tell them to. This is just plain theft, that is why the rich get richer and the poor stay poor, they have no conscious. This is such an unjust policy. How does the little guy fight this, hope their post is read and people quit getting their service.
So much for thanking me for my years of subscribing. Awful to keep taking people's money past the date they want to cancel. The money belongs in their pocket not Direct TV's.

DTV change the pro rate policy a few years ago. The new policy is you pay for and receive service until the end of you billing cycle. Emails and inserts with the paper bills where sent out when it changed and continuing service after that time means you agree with it.

I would bet 95% of users have no idea about this policy. It is unethical to force a person to pay beyond a date which they cancel service. Basically, they can make any policy sneak it in with there bill which looks like junk mail and steal your money. Next policy change, could cost customers more than the $100 I am losing. Just because you can do something through sneaky methods doesn't make it right. One of the many changes going on in our world corporate greed.

It is also in the TOS that is available online and you are correct DTV can change their policy at anytime that is also in the TOS that you agreed to when you sighed up.

How much are they paying you? It says you are not an employee then you must be a stock holder.
It is still deception. These policies will keep people from ever coming back. Let's see how many more people they lose in the next year. As if 2022 wasn't bad enough for them. My bill was approximately $120 a year ago and now it is $167 with no program changes. Anyway you slice it, their "policy" is legalizing theft - Corporate Greed. I'm all for making a profit but do it ethically and just.

It doesn't change the fact it is an unjust policy and pretty much amounts to legaized theft. They have found away to squeeze more money out of people.
This is probably why they have below a 2 star rating.

BTW canceling the service doesn't take effect until the end of your billing cycle.
