we were told our service would not be interuped by changing the name on the account but our current

we were told that we needed to get a new account to simply change the name on the account and we would have a new installation on 7/8/19

but then the old account was turned off 7/2/19 leaving us with no direct tv until 7/8/19!

You can't change the name on an account.  And you should not have been allowed to open a new one. Who suggested this?

You were given bad info.

 

Account ownership does not change. And it is one account for the household. Closing an account to have another household member open in their name is account fraud, and most likely sales agent trying to scam a commission.

 

Cancellations cannot go through of a day of your choosing anymore. They go through at the end of the service cycle, flat policy for all of us as of this year.

 

Call DirecTV 1-800-531-5000. When you get the voice system say "cancel" as you need the retention/loyalty department to help fix this issue. You need to have the new order closed and the old account reactivated, including submitting a fraud complaint on the prior agent.
