Why does DirectTV (Edited per community guidelines) ever since AT&T took over?

I've been a customer of DirectTV since 1998. I used to love this company but now it has gone to sh*t. I can't log into my account via online or any other way. It tells me that I have many attempts at signing in, so I need to reset my password. After resetting my password like a dozen times, I still get the same message. Why has this become such a mess? Before AT&T took over, this was NEVER an issue. But not since everything is bundled up, it's become such a headache that I will be most likely end my long time relationship with DirectTV and find a less expensive and more reliable cable company. You can't even talk to anyone over the phone from DirectTV anymore. You have to jump hoops after hoops with AT&T. What a shame that DirectTV is no longer a reliable company. I shouldn't have to reset my password every single time I want to long into my account, but I find myself doing just that every single time.

AT&T sold off 30% of DTV a couple years ago and the new partner moved everything back to them and is running the day to day operations.  You need to call DTV and say log in to the bot.

When AT&T acquired DirecTV they unified the logins. That caused a lot of issues, but they did get it mostly smoothed out. But then they sold of 30% to a new co-owner handing the day to day operations. With separating the logins and websites a lot of similar issues has occurred.

You'll need to call DirecTV and say "log in" at the voice prompt. With the issues you've had they will probably need to do a full reset of your login (not simply the password, but similar to logging in for the 1st time).

As a caution, when you call many agents will also offer to upgrade your equipment (this is how it has been for a very long time before AT&T). Naturally get your login fixed first. But if you do consider any upgrades, check back in the forum for guidance from experienced customers just to protect yourself against an agent who goes overboard instead of what is best for your personal setup.
