Why is there a $5.00 price increase on my package?

I received my AT&T-Directv statement and noticed a $5.00 price increase on my package. I was not notified via email or by written information on the monthly bill prior to the increase.  Called AT&T Support and received excuses for the price increase, but no answer to my question as to why where was no notification.  I am waiting for a supervisor to call me back.    I checked the Directv site where the notification of the increase was posted.  Should not have had to look for the information.  Should have been notified that this increase was happening.

Annual price adjustment is notified December for all customers. You may want to verify they have your contact email correct on file or that you have no issues with junk email settings, etc. that may have caused you not to get the notice.

So there was notification, but no agent is going to magically know why you individually may not have seen it.

From the email:

Thanks for being a DIRECTV® customer. We are grateful for your business.

Due to increased programming costs, we’re adjusting the price of our video packages. Periodically, the owners of television networks increase the fees they charge DIRECTV for the right to broadcast their movies, shows and sporting events.

You can review the changes at att.com/2021pricing. New rates will be in effect on January 17, 2021.

There was an across the board increase as it is every Jan./Feb.  How long have you had DirecTV?

I've had Directv for 3 years.  I received prior notification of increases in the past.   This one was a surprise.  It's not a significant increase, but it's just the principle that when you see the bill is higher than what was expected, and not told about it, that's poor business.  Of course, a business as huge as AT&T, probably doesn't care.

Are you sure it wasn’t in your bill? The price increase notice was in my January bill in the “what do I need to know” section.

New pricing will be applied to DIRECTV packages on 1/17/2021. Go to att.com/2021pricing .

It is a shared responsibility to check your bill more often. There's the website to see the changes. Don't need to be spoon fed everyday. I received an email on the change btw. Update your information on the app or call.

Thank you for your responses.  I receive my monthly statements via email and not by the USPS, therefore AT&T has my correct email address.  I checked the previous two months before the increase, and there was no notification.  I do not need to be "spoon fed."   I called AT&T and received a call-back from a supervisor who is graciously crediting my account.

Certainly nice of them to provide that credit. Going forward I would plan for the price adjustment and that notice and the page with the details should be available each December.
