AT&T adds a 4 digit PIN for security of the account, something new since the merger. However make sure you are calling the DirecTV number to get the correct side of the service. If the account does have a PIN then simply ask for what she needs to do to reset it.

This is not a matter of "elder abuse". Age doesn't change how security options work for the account. So if a forgotten PIN, then just go through the reset process.

We went to the At&T store in Polaris Ohio we had power of attorney forms id and bill and they said without a pin they could not stop service. My mother has never had a pin number and you cant reset pin without the original pin number she has no internet and never has had it she will not be responsible for any more months fees and if they do not cancel her service and refund her account for two months we will take legal action we have power of attorney over her

Call DirecTV (not the AT&T side) and when you get the voice prompt say "cancel". Normally the retention department agents are more experienced and helpful. If there is a PIN on the account, ask them the process when the PIN is forgotten. Her not having internet has no affect on this as an PIN or password is over the phone. Also since you have a POA, get the email or fax that you send that in to in order to allow you to make changes on her behalf.
