$249.99 to upgrade my receiver H44/500 software?
Got a call from a person claiming to be Direct-TV account manager who is responsible for my account. He claimed Direct-TV is re-positioning satellites and I will lose receptions if I do not upgrade the software which will cost me $249.99 and this amount would be reimbursed six month later. He wanted either my checking account number or a credit card number. At this point I'm 100% sure this was a fraud.
His name was Solomn James and the IT Technical number he gave me was 802-404-9914.
If my receiver H44/500 really needs a software upgrade or hardware replacement, please post it in your reply and I will call Direct-TV service for it.

This was a SCAM Directv never calls asking for bank account information or credit card information they would already have your billing information on file. Plus Directv automatically updates their software the same way you receive your programming so you do not have to contact them to do this! And if you needed new equipment they would have sent you a letter stating they were making changes or it would have been on your billing statement plus if your equipment was old they would swap out for a new comparable model for free the only way you would pay is if you were upgrading your equipment.

Even if DTV could move the sats which they can't all that is needed is to realign all 10 million dishes.

Hi I'm new to this forum. But I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me. I have a directv genie, and it's HR44/500. I was told that if I want to watch TV in 4k on my 4k TV there is a different receiver I need. Is this correct? I was under the impression that there is a genie and a genie mini. But I didn't know that there were multiple relievers for the genie. I was told I need the HR54 and above to watch TV in 4k.

@VBuck
Third generation Genie (HR54) on non-4K TV.
Only 4K model is a Mini Genie Client (C61K) on the 4K TV itself.
The 4K TV needs to support HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, and 60 FPS.
This is tech install only.
As nothing to do with a scam call of a software update, this thread is CLOSED. Start a new thread if you need more info.
