771 issue on new H24-200-R receivers

Ok I had a problem with one of my D12-100 receivers. I contact DirecTV when it tried to replace old D12 box with another D12 box I had. I asked them if they could update the access card. I was told no that they were replacing the old D12 boxes with HD24-200-R boxes. I was told they would work on my old oval dish. Two were sent to me to install. I got them working fine. After they were turn off for a couple hours and when I turn the on to watch tv I am getting the 771 code but I am getting picture on some of the paid advertising Chanel’s. Do I need to change the dish to an HD dish to fix this?

If I do my old dish has two cables going to each tv’s. If I need a new dish which one do I get to use the same setup.

P.S. this setup it on my RV in a rural area.

Thank

Do you have the oval dish or the round dish? Did you setr up the HR24 to match the dish you actually have?

IF your using a 18" ROUND DISH with a Small LNB -with 2 rg6 Down leads (from the dish) --Then YES -you NEED to CHANGE your DISH out to a Slimline --RE-run your SAT SETUP and Select 18" Dish --The H24 Will RECEIVE all the SD CHANNELS from the 101 -- I suggest you call back and ask for the "FREE" HD upgrade -that 's offered --That will get your DISH replaced and HD Service. WHICH you do not have now.

The SD CHANNELS are being Discontinued --that why you can get your D12's back

D12s are MPEG-2 which is SD-only. The MPEG-2 feeds are in the middle of shutting down, which is why your old boxes are mandatory to replace. They haven't had D12s for years.

They should have scheduled a tech for order as going from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 boxes is not usually plug and play.

DirecTV complimentary MPEG swap, or a free upgrade, only covers the home. Updating the RV will be at your own cost. You will need a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount, or the Winegard Trav'ler.

DTV will not service an RV unless it is permanently parked.  Maybe the dish needs to be aligned.

Thanks guys for the info. A friend of mine gave me a slimline disk today he didn’t need. I have on order a SL3-SWM upgrade kit

It comes with LNB, splitter, and a PI-21V. My question can one of the H24 get a signal from the PI-21V signal to IRD connector or due I need to run another cable from the H24 to the splitter?

Suggest -you get the dish First -Set it up Plumb and Get the 101 Reading 99 to 100 -then Tweak for the 99 & 103 SS- Support Should be able to help you with Zipcode if needed --also- You tube for Video D*TV  slimline dish setup

Put your zip code into the receiver and it will give you the alignment numbers or use dishpointer.com it gives the tilt as skew.
