What DirecTV boxes do you have now?

You'll need an HR54 Genie DVR or HS17 Genie Server with a C61K 4K Mini Client to receive DirecTV's few 4K channels. The C61K will connect to your 4K TV.

That's not the model number. Look for label near access card or rear/bottom panel. It will likely start with an H-## or HR-##

Hello @patfinwall. Let's check together the options for 4K programming.

Thank you for sharing with us the model of your main receiver. Please confirm for us the amount receivers you have at home to explorer options for all your equipment.

I have three receivers, the main on is the only one that is needed to receive 4K on my 8K Samsung TV, the other two are not used very much.

You need a C61K mini client connected to the 8K TV, you can have the tech move the HR54 to a non 4K TV.

How do I go about it, do I contact Directv and give them this info? And they will do the rest? And will they furnish the     C61K Mini Client? and will I need up grade connectors, if so will Directv have everything to complete the job?

If your other boxes are receivers and not clients then there can be a bit of a downgrade for the one TV to swap features for 4K capability. Being an 8K TV shouldn't limit it.

HR54 Genie on non 4K tv (Can connect to a 4K tv, but will not provide the 4K feed to it).

C61K Mini Genie Client (wired only at this time) on 4K tv.

Remember Client has no tuner of its own, uses 1 from the Genie.

4K tv must support HDCP 2.2, HDMI 2.0, and 60 FPS

DirecTV Installation, 4K tv must be there

Package Select or above as of 12/15/2016 (used to be only Ultimate or Premier). So only the Family package will not get 4K service at all.

At this time there are only a couple channels in 4K (plus a few PPVs)

Even if you have multiple C61K or RVU clients, only one tv can be using a 4K channel at a time.
