All channels flashing on and off
I have a brand new Samsung HD tv and now my channels are flashing in and off. Also while recording the receiver res light went off Ana when I try to record it will light up for 2 seconds and then turn off with my channels still flashing. Help please.

That is extremely odd. Kinda sounds like some sort of communication problem between them.
I would check that the HDMI cord is secure and free of debris on both ends.
Make sure you are not using HDMI-CEC or a 'smart' power strip.
What model box?
Try another port on the TV or HDMI cord (helps narrow down where the problem is).
Red button reset the DirecTV box.
If needed you can unplug power from the TV and DirecTV box for a minute or two. This clears cached memory from both. If the DirecTV box is a receiver (not a client) it will dump the guide data (including On Demand) which can take 24-48hours to repopulate.
