AT&T (face it, DIRECTV is not the same) said I am not able to use my own old box to access anymore?

I have a spare box i own.  I do not want to move my DVR from the house to the RV every time and wanted to just switch the card back and forth.  The "tech" stated this is no longer allowed.   I wondered why the installer said to keep my DVR's for as long as possible.  Where in the contract does it now say I cannot use a different box to access the system?  I've heard the activate/deactivate the RV when I use it.  This would be an additional charge for an additional box and is a hassle.   This wasn't an issue a few years ago, what has changed?

Do i just need to insist more firmly?  I use to be able to buy my own DVR and use it with DIRECTV

Anyone else run into this?

Access cards are married to their receivers, you've never been able to switch access cards like that.

The only owned receivers are usually the SD only receivers that are now obsolete as DTV is shutting down the SD MPEG2 channels.
