Best stand alone directv receivers?
Good Evening. I have an RV that I just converted from standard definition to HD with a Slimline SL3 dish. I have 2 HR24-100 receivers, but wanted to see if there was a better receiver to use. Can I use 2 HR44-500 receivers or are they only to be used with the genie setup? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The HR44 is a genie server and you can only have one per account. Do you have one in your home system?

Yes, I already have a HR44 genie server on my home, which is on the same account.

Then you can use it in the RV with the minis if you need them but once you get outside of the spot beam for your locals you will not get any other locals. The HR24s are the last receivers made before they went to the Genie line and will work in the RV with a power inserter and the local channels will also be lost.

I prefer to leave the HR44 in the house only, as there will be people in the house when we are gone. It looks like the HR44 is out. What is the best HD DVR receiver that is not a HR44 or genie? The HR24-100 receivers are about 9 years old. Is there anything better? Thanks.

Only one Genie/Genie Lite/Genie-2 may be on the account. So you cannot have multiple HR44s as that is the 2nd generation Genie.
The HR24 is the last regular HDDVR made. Works with the Genie. The last HD non-DVR receiver is the H25, which like the Genie is SWM-only.
Ideally you would leave the Genie at home and take an HR24 with you in the RV as needed. The Genie can be used in the RV, but it wasn't intended for moving around.
The -500 and -100 don't make a difference. That is just the manufacturer code, meaning what assembly line the box came off of. All boxes of same model are made to same specs, regardless who built it.
