Black and white screen
I have a new tv and a new direct TV installation. It was been working for two weeks without an issue. Suddenly when we turned on the TV tonight we have nothing but black and white on all channels. I tried a new HDMI cable and tried powering down the box and also tried the reset button on the box. I also tried another HDMI input on the TV, no change.

Glad it was fixed, and without putting anything in the oven, lol.
If anything else happens, post back as needed. But hope you are good going forward now.

I know this thread is a year old, but I'm having the exact same issue! I'd like to know what setting you changed to resolve your problem.

I set the picture style to standard in the settings, and the picture format to automatic. I am not sure why it changed in the first place as it was working fine and then all of a sudden it had changed to the black and white picture. I have not had any issues since I made the setting changes.
Hope this helps

I'm having the same issue. My firestick works no problem, play station works no problem, Computer direct HDMI works fine, replaced the HDMI cable, technician also replaced receiver. Still doing it. No error codes, just black and white. I have moved all devices to different HDMI plugs. Only the receiver has this issue. If it was the TV or the HDMI plug my other devices would be having issues. The reboot screen is color? It seems to be a communication issue between the receiver and TV. Never had this issue with cable. Maybe it's time to go back to cable.

Was it working fine before or did you hook up a new TV and found the issue? Try going into the TV setting and make changes to the picture format and picture style. Make the changes one at a time and see what works. I found that the speed of the service affected the picture quality.

It was working fine before, it started doing this about 6 weeks ago. I had the receiver replaced and it started again within a week. Usually a reboot will do it. But I really don't like having to reboot every other time I turn it on.

Were is the receiver located on the TV stand? Possibly the receiver is getting over heated or another electrical component is creating some RF frequency in the HDI cable. Do you have another TV you can connect to the receiver temporarily? If a different TV work on the system as is, the issue is within the tv or tv settings.
