Can I get a DirecTV service person to work on a dish that is on my garage roof?
I had a DirecTV account for many years and I still have a dish that DirecTV mounted on the roof of our attached garage back in about 2010. Last year we had a problem with the LNB and our DirecTV system crashed. I called for a service call and the person who came to work on my system was an AT&T employee, and he told me that he is not allowed to work on my roof. He could only work from a ladder.
After some struggles I was able to cancel my DirecTV agreement and send back my equipment via UPS. Now I miss DirecTV and I want to make it work again.
How do I find a service technician who can work on my roof? I'm in the midwest part of the USA.

OSHA rules will not allow anyone on the roof without proper safety equipment so to comply with this DTV will not allow the techs to leave the ladder, the fix is to install the dish on the edge of the roof from a ladder or on a pole mount on the ground.

You would need to order DIRECTV again and schedule for a technician to come out. Once they arrive, make mention that there is a dish on your garage roof already that you would like to use. The technician will need to change the LNB for SWM and make the necessary wire fixes etc.

DIRECTV for BUSINESS support: 1(800)388-2505
DIRECTV DEALER/INSTALLER support ONLY: 1(800)323-1994
For common errors, hit that RED reset button!

While ordering the service, call DIRECTV and tell them about your situation with the last employee and say that you want a technician who can work with what you have on the garage roof.

shannon02 good point. Yes, the technician may need to mount another dish close to the one already mounted and just cut the wire leading to the garage roof dish and use that. You could then remove the dish on the garage roof and use some silicon grease if it bothered you to see two different dishes.

Removing the dish would be up to the homeowner. Directv will not remove the dish due to obvious responsibilities for damage.

Leave the mounting plate attached to the roof to prevent leaks.
