Is the C61K Connected to the 4k TV? or is HR-54 & C61K connected to the same 4k TV?
The HR 54 Can Only Record 4k -IT can NOT out put 4k direct HDMI because it's HDMI port is only 1.4.
The C61K Has a HDMI port 2.0 - It will display recorded 4K content over Wholehome Recorded on the HR54 --as well as Display 4k Content Direct from the 4k Channels live.
If your HR 54 & C61K are located on the same tv you need will need to change the TV input to the C61K port.
The HR54 has & 7 tuners (2) of which are for 4K only -- If you have more than 3 mini's in use at anyone time in any room -THAT's all you can have as the MINI's take alive tuner away from the HR54 Leaving 2 for recording or live tv. Thta's why your limited.
That why Suggestions for changing out your other mini's for HD receivers or HDDVR receivers Those receivers have independant TV tuners and do not require taking anything away from the HR54.
The other way is a HS17 - If you had one of those you can nOT have any other receiver than a MINI.
So that's your choice to make -- Depends on How many folks in your family require the use of TV and any recording that the HR54 has Takes a tuner in use - meaning another room will go dark

The only Genie box that supports that many TV's simultaneously is the HS17 Genie Server. But I don't recommend that box because it's rather buggy. You would be better off replacing four of your Mini Genies with regular HD Receivers (H25).

Yes, it would. But the Genie 2 (HS17 Genie Server) is rather buggy. I don't recommend it. You'll be happier replacing some of those Minis with H25 HD Receivers. Those have their own satellite tuners, unlike the Minis. The HR54 can only support 3 Minis simultaneously.

Yes- you need to upgrade to a Genie 2 it will support 7 tv's - Or keep what you have and change out a couple of MINI's for a H24 HD receiver.

Genie is a 5 tuner HDDVR with 1TB hard drive.
Keeps 2 tuners to itself for Picture in Picture (PiP)
Mini Genie Clients have no tuners, each stealing a tuner from the Genie. (no recording space of their own either)
So Genie can only use up to 3 Clients at the same time, though can pair with up to 8.
Recommended to have HDDVRs (2 tuners and 500GB recording space), or even HD non-DVR (1 tuner, Autotune, and can still watch recordings of the others), instead of Clients. No monthly cost difference.
The 3rd generation Genie (HR54) supports using the 4K Client (C61K). So if you want to enjoy the couple 4K channels, you would need at least that one Client. Even if you have multiple C61K, only 1 TV at a time may use a 4K channel. It is the early days of 4K.
Outside of the box you get during a free upgrade, the one-time lease costs are HDDVR $199 and HD non-DVR $99.
The Genie-2 (HS17) is not better, even though at first glance it appears to be.
Has 7 tuners and can use up to 7 Clients at the same time.
Up to 2 of the 4K Clients may use a 4K channel at the same time.
2TB hard drive.
Headless Server tower so is one more box than you have TVs
Clients can only use 1 tuner each, so no PiP
The Genie-2 forbids HDDVRs so is hard capped on tuners, one point of failure for the entire system including recordings, and cannot have separate parental controls or recording access per TV. This is why the Genie-2 is not recommended. A regular Genie with 2 HDDVRs is 9 tuners, more than the server tower can support. So regular Genie with HDDVRs, and perhaps some Clients (no more than 3), would give the most capability, flexibility, and reliability over a Genie-2 setup.
