Nothing else is available. Why don't you like the Genie? All directv receivers use the same user interface

Well yes, the HR24 has a different user interface and may be a better fit for you. But, it will be a downgrade from the Genie as the HR24 only has two tuners and also does not support the newest features of the Genie receivers. If you don't want the downgrade you could definitely get a receiver from Solid Signal and add it to your DIRECTV account. In the main room where you don't like the Genie, swap it for the HR24. Obviously, it would require the change of wires and cords and would make for a bigger project. I forgot to mention that there are also other receivers to use that aren't Genies (H20 - H25) or DVRs (HR20 - HR24, R22).

Directv probably won't activate an HR24.

True lol but I’ve heard about many successful people who activated their HR24. It’s worth a shot, Solid Signal could probably pull it off.

yes, i would try solid signal. But if directv will not activate it that's a very expensive doorstop.

That’s true. But I’m pretty sure that the OP will be able to get their money back on the receiver if it is unable to be activated by Solid Signal.

probably yes.
But we don;'t know why he does not like the genie. Odds are the HR24 will have the same issues.

I personally don’t like the Genie CLIENTS. I like the Genie itself though. But I haven’t upgraded to it yet and my main receiver is still an HR24-500.

I hate to say it but I’m still rocking with my D11-500 in my Guest room. Will NEVER forget that revolutionary guide (0x1310) that looked so good. I actually have two D11-500s, one in the guest room and one for RV-ing. I’ve been long due for an upgrade but DIRECTV still hasn’t shut down ANY channels so I’ll pump the life out of my D11s and one D12-100 until it’s time.

For a while now, DirecTV has been moving forward with a Genie-only setup. Hopefully with the new co-owner, they will look into regular receiver options again.
However which "Genie" do you have? There have been several to date and some are better than others. In fact what are the models of all boxes you have? What don't you like or what are the issues you are having?
With more information about your problem and what actual boxes you have, then experienced users could provide a proper answer for you. We could narrow down your options or perhaps find a way to improve the experience you are having.
