Commercial Gym w/ Genie 2.. So many issues..

I ordered DirectV service (commercial) for my health club.  The installer (tech) came out to our gym and said this is going to take a long time, plus you’re going to see wires.  I said, “why don’t you install the wireless/Genie 2 system?”  The installer and his manager said, “Because commercial locations that have public viewing must be hardwired and are not allowed to be installed with any wireless devices.”  I said, “That doesn’t make sense as it would make your job much easier.”  The installer and his manager said, “What you can do is contact ATT/DirecTV and cancel this commercial install and then setup a residential install at another address and we will take care of the work order to make sure its done at your health club. That way you’ll have more programming in your gym and the install will be easier.”  I said, “ok, whatever makes more sense and is easier.”  So they i stalled a Genie 2 with 7 clients.

AND HERE’s the problem: The channels never change in our gym but the screensaver appears every 1, 2 to 3 hours. Once you press a button the remote for that client the screensaver appears on another client. This continue to happen until the screensaver has appeared on on all 7 clients.  And then the same issue happens again 1, 2, to 3 hours later.

couple questions/issues with all the above:

I’ve learned through various threads that the screensaver cannot be turned off, is this true?

Also, is this an issue that only residential accounts deal with?

Would this issue happen if my directv system was properly hardwired with standard receivers (ex. H25 or any other hardwired receiver) because I’m a commercial location?

What if I was a bar or restaurant and the screensaver came on during the final  seconds of a game and everyone missed the winning shot - there has to be a difference between residential and commercial accounts regarding the screensaver otherwise NO commercial client would ever keep DirecTV if the screensaver continued to come on.

I’m assuming what the installer and his manager told me was totally inappropriate - thoughts?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Commercial is not allowed DVR. The Genie-2 (HS17) is a DVR server tower. So even if all Clients were wired, it is not allowed because of the recording capability.

I wouldn't suggest the Genie-2 anyway. Though better than when first launched, it is restrictive giving a hard cap on services as well as a single point of failure for the whole setup since no TV could work without it.

Screen saver cannot be disabled, but should only come on after a reasonable time.

The tech saying order a residential account at a different address and he would install at your health club? That is fraud.

Why is there a need for a screensaver if the TV is on a live program?

Unfortunately the DirectTV logo screen saver cannot be totally disabled, even with the Dash key (-).

If there is a paused video,(on screen display) or menu on the screen for 5 minutes or more, the screen saver appears.

It's similar to a screen saver on a computer. Its a feature from DirectTV that may help prevent screen burn on your TV.
