Compatible Directv receiver and Winegard GM 9000 Carryout G3

I want to purchase for my RV the Winegard satellite and compatible Directv receiver. Where and how much? How do I get the receiver activated? I am already a Directv customer through AT&T.

Don’t get that Winegard Dome because it won’t last as DIRECTV is shutting down all old SD/MPEG-2 channels on satellite 101. Therefore, your Winegard would become useless and a waste of money after a short period of time.

You should look for either the Winegard Trav’ler or a DIRECTV SWM HD dish on a tripod or non-penetrating mount. While the Winegard Trav’ler automatically aims all three satellites (99, 101, 103), a traditional DIRECTV dish on a tripod or non-penetrating mount requires you to aim the dish.

A receiver you should look for is the H24/H25 unless you want to record in the RV. If that’s the case, you should get an HR24. As DIRECTV won’t help you with your RV, you must purchase the receiver and dish from a third party like Solid Signal.

That G3 is obsolete because it is MPEG-2/SD-only for DirecTV. As DirecTV is in the process of shutting down their MPEG-2 feeds, you need MPEG-4 going forward.

You need a slimline SWM dish on a tripold/sled mount or the Winegard Trav'ler (DirecTV version of course).

If you are getting another receiver to leave in the RV, then a H24 or H25 would be the way to go. However if you want a DVR, then HR24 would be the option.l

Solid Signal is a place to get equipment to do-it-yourself. DirecTV will not service the RV as they are intended for the residence only.

What are the models of each box in the home? Perhaps you could just take one with you when you travlel to save the cost on the additional TV fee. You pay that $7 a month regardless of usage. Plus it would be good to know if you have any updates you must prepare for at home with the old feeds shutting down.
