Connect Directv remote to TCL tv

To program your DIRECTV remote to work with your TCL TV follow theses instructions:

1. Press and hold MUTE and SELECT buttons simultaneously. Release the buttons after the green light at the top of the remote flashes twice.
2. Enter the 5-digit code 11756.
3. Aiming the remote at the television, press VOLUME UP. (If the volume doesn’t increase, try a different code and repeat steps 2-4. The DIRECTV website has a list of instructions to scan for additional codes. When the volume increases, proceed to step 4.)
4. Again pressing MUTE and SELECT simultaneously, look for the green light at the top of the remote control to flash twice.
5. Using the remote control keypad, enter the number 960. The same green light on the remote should flash twice again.
6. Move the MODE switch to the DIRECTV position.

Hello. I need help with my directv remote. When I get to step 5 and enter 960 the remote flashes red not green. How do I fix this?

I have a tcl 55” s535 roku tv that has worked fine for 6 months with direct tv rc73 genie remote and just stopped working.  Changed batteries, tried new rc73 unit, and followed all the posted directions.  The remote will turn tv on and adjust volume, but will still not change channels or any other functions.  I have tried codes 11756, 10706(per tcl support), and 10885.  Also add that the remote will pair to another television that is hooked directly to the direct tv unit.  Any help is appreciated

@Jeffbeckner what is the receiver model? Have you verified that both the receiver and remote are in RF mode/IR mode? If the remote is in IR mode and the receiver is in RF, they cannot communicate. Also, it may be worth it to make sure the IR sensor of the DIRECTV receiver is not blocked.

Hr44-700 receiver.  Which is linked to television in same room.  The tcl tv having problems in another room.  Now the rc73 remote is paired with television in same room of receiver.

To pair remote with receiver to rf mode press and hold mute and enter (lower righthand corner) at same time until light blinks several times. A message should appear saying remote is set to rf. You must have line of sight from remote to receiver for this step. 

Hr24/200 with tcl 55” s535 roku tv.  All the sudden the Dtv remote is not controlling tv. Still controls dtv box. Tried to reprogram and the tc is not on the preprogrammed list. Try to do that auto when tv not found and no luck. Help please
