Connecting DirecTV C61k client to HS17 Genie
How do I connect the C61k 4k client to the Genie? I believe the C61k requires a coax connection but I don't see any coax output on my HS17 Genie?

A 4K setup is a DirecTV install, so requiring a tech. Did they drop ship the C61K by accident or how did you get that Client?

You first have to call and have it added to your account --Then and only then will they activate your receiver and your are correct for a c61K-700 you will need a COAX (rg6) at that location as NO wireless D*tv 4K receiver exists

I had the client for a couple of years but recently went through a house remodel. That room was taken down to the studs and now trying to figure out how to tell the electrician to plan for the connection.

The only way to know for sure is to call 1-800-531-5000 -if it was on your account before AT&T bought D* it may or not be added. You will still need to call and have 4K service added to your account --if it's not already active.

As a note, all Mini Genies (i.e. C61K) are Clients, not receivers. Key difference is no tuners or recording space as they steal that from the main Genie. The Genie-2 (HS17) forbids receivers, only allowing Clients.

You connect it to an open port on a SWM splitter, if there is no open port then you need a bigger splitter the max is an 8 way.

Thanks. I thought there might be a way to connect directly to the HS17 but I guess I will have them run the coax connection to the SWM splitter in the basement. Thanks!

To do that you need another SWM splitter but DTV recommends no more then 8 splits.
