connection with Direct TV on my TV

Despite a new remote which has power, there is NO CONNECTION with DIRECT TV! I followed all of the guidelines sent with the remote. NO CONNECTION! A Direct TV employee had told me to initially touch the Mute and Select simultaneously. I did that. NO CONNECTION!

Unless you have the protection plan DTV charges $99 for a tech visit and you have to call and wait for a CSR to set it up.

 

What is the remote model number and the DTV receivers model number?

Since you are not an employee of DTV, why would I give those model numbers to you? I've had not TV for a month yet paid $124. plus for the NO SERVICE, NO CONNECTION. Another $99.  is a rip off.

Model numbers are not sensitive info. That simply narrows down what options the box will have so correct guidance is given. This is a public forum of other customers, so we can only go by the info you tell us. We don't have access to your account.

 

Keep in mind as such, you have given your phone number to the entire world. Please remove it ASAP. Be prepared you may have an increase in scam calls.

 

You call DirecTV for a warranty replacement ($19.95 delivery) or service call ($99). If you subscribe to their Equipment Protection Plan that covers those costs, but at $8.99 it costs more in the long run than the one-time costs.

While logged into your account, posts will have an action list on the right (3 dots). One of the options listed will be "edit".

You're welcome. I wouldn't delay on editing the post as al you have to do is delete the phone number and save and you protect your info going forward.

 

If you do share the box info, make sure it is the model number only (D11, H23, HR20, etc.). We do not need the serial number, receiver ID (RID), or other such info as that is identifying which of the thousands of same models is your exact one.

I found the controller number, However, I did not find a box except a black mechanism about the size of my DVD player. I pulled it out and searched for any letter/number combo like you mentioned. None could be found probably with even a flashlight it was awkward to see what was printer on the little silver discs. There is a cream colored box-like much smaller fixture plugged into the wall behind large older  TV cabinet. I cannot move the cabinet and with 57" Mitsubishi TV on it.  I do need the person to come out to the house. I have called those 800 numbers and other than the final time I did get the controller replacement, I mostly got a deflected round around. Is there another number to get a technician out to my home less than a 5 minute drive?

If you follow the HDMI cable from the TV it will take you to the DTV receiver and the model numbers are on a sticker behind the access card door or on the bottom and the remote model number starts with RC.

 

18005315000 is DTV customer service number but with Covid-19 closing call centers and the open ones are understaffed wait times are excessive

You cannot drive to get a DirecTV tech as all scheduling is done over the phone. They don't have places for customers to personally go.

 

As suggested above, follow the HDMI cable from your TV if you don't know which is your DirecTV box. The model number will either be on a label on the underside, or behind the access card door.
