Customer service

Trying to disconnect Direct TV and called to see if someone could come out and help. The customer service rep said maybe that is a sign that God wants you to keep Direct TV. That is a direct quote.  I repeated it to be sure I did not misunderstand. He mentioned the word miracle but I did not write that part down.  His name was DANE from FL. He may have been lying but he said his customer number [EDITED]. I tried to explain to the gentleman that my husband is paralyzed and lives in the VA home. He is only able to talk and eat so he is not able to help unscrew the cable.  Living without my husband I have learned to be self-sufficient but I have arthritis and the cord was screwed in so tight I can not unscrew it. I would not bother you if I could do it or knew someone who could do it.  I think it is wrong that you can send a technician to install for free but you charge me for someone to come out and take it out.  He said it would be $100 to get a tech out to remove the service. I will work hard to find someone to unscrew the cable.  I do not have men to call but I am sure someone will help me.  If I had $100 I would pay for groceries.  I would be happy to unscrew it if I could.  I get calls all the time trying to sell me Direct TV.  Do not call me because I can assure I would never have Direct TV in my home even if it was free.  I was frustrated but I did not yell at him or curse at him. I think his sarcasm was unprofessional.  My customer number is [EDITED].  I will not be using Direct TV ever and will be happy to tell anyone who is interested in DIRECT TV about my negative experience.   I am sorry that DIRECT TV does not care. I guaranteed if I called for an install they would be out in less than a day. Funny install you are helpful but you make it difficult to uninstall.  Dave thought if he did not help and was rude I was save the trouble and keep the surface.  :(

Sorry but directv. Dish network. Hughes net do not come out and uninstall. The customer is suppose to disconnect and take the boxes to fedex or ups the dish on the roof is yours you own it so that can stay. If you list the model numbers of all boxes @Juniper  can determine if the boxes even need to be returned.

Comment from agent sounds like an attempt at humor to keep a pleasant call with the hopes of retaining your business. I agree that is a risky statement as that would not go over well with many people.

Upon install on the receiver/client boxes get returned. Everything else (cabling, receiving dish, etc.) is owned upon install. This is why DirecTV never sends someone out to remove equipment.

What are the models of each box you have? (behind access card door, label underneath, or if box still hooked up go into Menu > Settings > Info and Test and it should be on the summary screen).

If you cannot unscrew the coax yourself, then you will need to arrange a friend, family member, etc. help you.

How To Return The Equipment

Go to a FedEx or UPS location with your account #. No need to bring a box or label, the equipment will be boxed it up & shipped out at no charge. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

If you want to opt out of sales calls, then you need to call DirecTV and update the communication preferences on your account. I would also add your number to the national donotcall registry for telemarketers in general. It may take up to 30 days for the majority of those calls to stop, as they roll out the updated info to the companies and their affiliates.

You "guarantee less than a day"? That is certainly wrong. Same day appointments practically never happen as they don't have techs just sitting around doing nothing. Plus they have to provide all the equipment for your specific install. On top of that, Covid-19 has resulted in short staffing all around. Even under normal circumstances getting same week was fairly lucky.

Bottom line it is not the DirecTV doesn't care. You are simply requesting they do something they have never done per most of the equipment you own. And they will not waste money on paying techs and gas just to unplug a box.
