Wow, the D10, I must have one in my closet! No, those are becoming obsolete since DIRECTV is shutting down the MPEG2/SD feeds which are the only feeds that the D10 uses. You can call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and request an SD swap for an H24 or H25 HD receiver. If your actual satellite dish is SD (18 inch or only receives satellite 101) then that ALSO needs to be replaced with an SL3 slimline SWM dish on either a tripod mount or non-penetrating (sled) mount. If you don’t want to self aim the new HD dish, you can get a Winegard Trav’ler which automatically aims itself, though at a higher price.
D10 is definitely obsolete. Has been superceeded for many years already.
As that is a pre-SWM box, any others you have may also be an issue. What are the models of every one you have?
DirecTV is shutting down their MPEG-2/SD-only feeds. All SD-only boxes, which are models that start D or R, are becomming bricks. The exception is R22 as it is MPEG-4 capable in special setups.
For tailgating you need an H or HR model (or R22 if you have at least one of the others on the account). You would also need a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount, or the Winegard Trav'ler.
Call DirecTV.
Request MPEG Swap.
Do NOT say "upgrade" (otherwise you get 24-month agreement).
Be adamant the swap needs to be a non-DVR reciever (H24 or H25).
DirecTV's default swap is Genie and Mini Genies as needed, but the Minis cannot work without the main box so are not friendly for tailgating, RVs, etc. A Genie (last one HR54) is fine on a multi-TV setup by having a receiver in the mix for tailgating. Avoid Genie-2 (HS17) as forbids recievers.
As always, read the order confirmation in full well before appointment for tech to install in your home. The order will only cover the box and home equipment. Any updates in your tailgating setup beyond that are on your cost.
