D12 100 vs D12 500

Using oval dish at camp with 500 boxes, can I use the 100s as well?

Yes, they are the same receiver. D12 is the model of the receiver and the 3 numbers on the end (100 & 500) are just the codes noting who manufactured the receiver.

Only until DTV finishes shutting down the MPEG2 channels then they will be obsolete.

@Wheelert74

They are both D12. The -100 and -500 only mean what company made it for DirecTV as that is the manufacturer code. They are still to the same specs.

However the D12 is the last MPEG-2/SD-only non-DVR made. DirecTV has been shutting down their MPEG-2 feeds. So those boxes and any MPEG-2 dishes will need replacing.
