D12 100

How do I make my D12 100 search for a signal by GPS coordinates? I have a Winegard G2 on the roof of my motorhome.

@Animal572 send me your zip code and I’ll tell you the azimuth, elevation, and skew needed for satellite 101. Usually, you’ll enter the D12-100 satellite setup settings and select ‘Dish Pointing’ and enter your zip code to be given the info. If not, tell me your zip code and I’ll give the proper info.

As a side note, DIRECTV has been shutting down their old MPEG2/SD feeds on Satellite 101. As you know, DIRECTV has existed since 1994, and so has the operation of satellite 101. The original feeds are still broadcasting to this day and need to be shut down at some point. Because of this, you will need an HD receiver going forward (H24 or H25) as well as a new HD Slimline dish. You can buy them with a tripod mount or sled mount if you would like to aim the dish manually every time you stop or you can use the Winegard Trav’ler which aims the new SWM dish by itself, although at an expensive rate.

The D12 doesn't aim the dish all that entering the zip code does is give you the rough settings to point the dish.   The G2 is suppose to be self aiming.

DirecTV boxes do not search GPS themselves. The zip code gives you the general info to point the dish. Thought the G2 should be self-aiming.

Be aware this will only work short-time (if at all). DirecTV has been shutting down their MPEG-2/SD-only feeds. The D12 is the last MPEG-2 non-DVR DirecTV made. You will need MPEG-4 equipment going forward. So your boxes must be models starting H (or HR for DVR) and for the motorhome a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount or the Winegard Trav'ler.

There is no DTV receiver made that uses GPS.
