Denon zone 2 not working after 4K Genie installed
I just had a 4K genie installed and now the zone 2 on the amp does not operate. I tried installing a DAC but it looks like the Genie has zero output from the optical connector. My Denon needs an analog input for the Zone 2 to work.
Any suggestions?

The optical output from the genie is a digital audio output not analog. Did your previous setup use red/white connections for zone 2? If so you would need to gat the special 10pn composite connector for the genie which would give you analog audio. Make sure you get the composite connector not the component one.

Thanks for the message. I understand the optical output was digital. I connected a DAC box to the optical output of the Genie to get analog output. There is no output from the DAC. Is there something I need to do to get the optical output to work? I have the HDMI connected but wanted to get the audio out of the optical plug...I can also use the coaxial plug if that is better. I am wondering if the HDMI cable disconnected the other outputs? Thanks

No, all outputs are live all the time.

The digital audio outputs both the toslink and coax will be carrying dolby digital which probably won't work throu the DAC. And you can't switch that off because you will lose it over HDMI.
