direct tv box not getting power
My direct tv box is not getting power or will not turn on when I turn on my TV. I get a "No Signal" message on the tv screen. I have checked all the connection cables - they are good. I have reset the little red button several times. When I called tech support all he wanted to do was sell me the warranty or send a tech person out for $100. Any ideas?

I assume the outlet is working? DTV replaces defective receivers for $20 to cover shipping, no tech or protection plan is needed.

Is it one Box or is your whole system down?

the box is connected to a power strip and all the other devices connected to it are working. I will check on the model number. The 2 tv's connected are giving the same "no signal" message. Thanks you all for the feedback.

look for a Grey or Black box that powers your SAT -LNB --Check where all the Cables come into your home from the SAT DISH --That where you should find the Power supply

the black box that the cables are connected to has power or at least the green light is on. I checked these cables and the one from the satellite. I did not see any evidence that they were loose or not functioning.

Have you unplugged the receivers?

If the box is not powering on at all (no light, noises, and power cord and outlets verified working) then call DirecTV and request a warranty replacement. That is just $19.95 delivery. The $99 tech is not needed unless problem is beyond box itself so needs someone sent out.
However, if box powers on but you are getting "No Signal" then that means there is a communication problem. Check HDMI cord between box and TV. Verify TV is on the correct input DirecTV is plugged into. Try a different HDMI port on the TV, and even another HDMI cord if you have one (or check another HDMI device like a game console, DVD player, etc). Even unplug power from the TV for a couple minutes (since they don't have reset buttons).
As a note, make sure you are not using a 'smart' power strip. They don't work well with DirecTV, unlike a regular surge protector. And if TV has HDMI-CEC, turn that off.
