Directv equipment return

I called AT&T/Directv to close my account about a month ago and was told that I would receive a label that should be taken to FEDEX to make the return.  As of today, I have not received a label.  I did receive an email stating that the equipment should be recycled.  My account states that I should return the equipment.  Why is conflicting information given about the equipment return.  I have boxed the equipment waiting for a label that the last associate contacted stated that she would send me.  What am I supposed to do.  I do not want the equipment and certainly do not want to be charged.  My city has a recycle service that accepts electronic equipment.  Please provide an answer, as I have spoken to two different people at AT&T and have not received a label.  My email message from AT&T does state that I should recycle but my account says return the equipment.  I am confused.

What are the model numbers?  Unless you are more then 10 miles from a UPS/FedEx store then DTV doesn't send any boxes.

DirecTV does not send a label only. If you are over 10 miles from a participating shipping location then they should send a prepaid return box.

To see if returnable or not, what are the model numbers of each box?

If any are returnable, here is the current return process.

How To Return The Equipment

Go to a FedEx or UPS location with your account #. No need to bring a box or label, the equipment will be boxed it up & shipped out at no charge. The process takes less than 5 minutes.

Thanks for the info.  It would have been great if the associate at Directv/AT&T had informed me.  They told me the label would be sent to me.  I received an email telling me to recycle the equipment but I don't trust them and feel better returning the equipment.  When I look at my account, I see a statement informing me that they will charge me if I do not return the equipment. Thanks for your support.  I will never do business with them again.

With an influx of employees who are from AT&T, not DirecTV legacy employees, and additional outsourced ones right now (company call centers closed for now per Covid), quality of knowledge from customer support has taken a big hit.

At the very least since you have already left I would wait until time after Covid (when companies should be returning to normal) before you would consider them. Still a good service itself, but operations and customer support need to get back to normalcy.

A couple of hours ago, I followed your instructions and took the equipment to FEDEX, received my receipt for the return and now satisfied.  Thanks for your assistance!

Glad you got it taken care of. Just make sure to hold onto that receipt.

I have put the receipt in a safe place.  They may still try to charge me for the equipment.  I do not trust them.  Thanks for your encouragement!

In general I would hold onto the receipt for a little bit for any company. However recently the new return process has seen some issues so I would hold onto it for a few months at least.
