DIRECTV Satellite 99 No Signal

My DIRECTV dish is a SWM 3 LNB and has no signal on 99 but ok signal on 103 and really strong signal on 101 and 119. Could that mean that the LNB is shot for 99 or is the dish pointed at 101, 103, and 119 instead of 99, 101, 103?? Thanks. Btw, I don't want to go on my roof and I am also only using a B-Band Converter with my HR24-100. I am not using a SWM Power inserter, which is supposed to make the signal stronger. If you need my signal readings on 101, 103, and 119 I can provide them. As said before, 99 has all zeros.

I think this is probably the LNB I have, I don't have SWM at all although I thought I did:

in that case you really don't have a HR44 either as they only work on swim system

I think you have SWM (because as goldw1800 says the HR44 will only work on SWM).

I think if you do the following:

get rid of the BBCs

install the power inserter

align the dish

you will be fine

Just for interest what signals are you showing on 101

101 has all good signals.. all in the 90s some in the 80s

two transponders on 101 are 50 and 65 but those are the weak ones.

103 has ok signals.. CA is worse than CB and S is surprisingly getting good numbers

they are in the 40-70 range on CA and the 50-75 range on CB. 103 (s) has signals from 60-90 range.

99 has no signals..

Take a look at my previous post with the hookup instructions and link to a wiring diagram. That's how your equipment should be set up. If the HR44 has been working, then you must have a SWM Power Inserter already installed, somewhere. Do you know where?  If that information is confusing, then it's time to call for a service tech to come and fix this for you.

My friend came today to test the signals before he did anything to make sure I was doing the right thing. He said that the B-Band Converters were used because I had an SL5 LNB that was Legacy and had 4 outputs. After all, there WAS two wires coming down from the satellite dish but I couldn't quite see because my roof is 30 feet high and the wires looked like one. My friend brought over an HR24-100 that he uses to test signals and setups and published it to YouTube so you guys can see what channels come in and don't come in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18OoCMKE_nw&t=10s

He will come back on Friday to realign the dish to 99 or possibly replace the SL5 legacy LNB or dish itself..

only way you can use that setup with a HR44 is to have the 4 down leads Going into a SWIM 8  - or swim16- Switch with pi-29 power inserter --It must be in the attic

This thread is an absolute nightmare. I am sorry, but you have been feeding us incorrect or incomplete information all along.

First, none of this will work unless you got the receivers from Direct, not from a friend, from ebay or anywhere else. Second, if the dish is a legacy non-SWM dish then it must be configured as goldw1800 with four cables to an SWM 8/16 multiswitch with power inserter, it has to be somewhere otherwise the HR44 will not work correctly. And then, if the HR44 did not come from Directv but from another source, it wont work correctly anyway because it thinks its on another account (hospitality maybe?). maybe even in a different zip code. All in all it's a mess, and your "friend" won't  be able to fix it.

I'm sorry you are unable to understand. I have got the receivers directly from DIRECTV, not from eBay or anywhere else. After all, they would never be able to be activated. Second, my friend is an approved DIRECTV installer, not some random person. The reason why the YouTube surf video is a hospitality system is because it is my DIRECTV friend's receiver that he uses to test signals and systems. It wasn't bought from eBay or stolen or whatever. He was given the receiver. The system has ALWAYS worked until about now when no signal on 99 was available. He IS coming tomorrow to fix the LNB, satellite dish, or whatever. I have no idea why you would conclude that. Finally, I don't know what the system is because it is all the way up on my 30ft roof and attic, which I am not going to. I am giving you as much information as I know, and if I am not able to give you proper information, that's not my fault. I'm not some sort of DIRECTV freak who knows all this stuff and spends so much time researching it...

Well you can't blame us for being confused. First it's an SWM system, then it's not. If it's an SWM system you have to have a power inserter and you can't use BBCs. If it isn't an SWM system then you can't use a splitter and the HR44 won't work. So which is it?

I THINK I have a Legacy LNB NON-SWM system. I don't see anything SWM in the rooms so that's my final prediction.

once again  --Look in the attic --because you can NOT have a HR44 on a NON-SWIM System

Well, let us know what your friend discovers, @cardboardguy401

You absolutely 100% must have a SWM Power Inserter somewhere or your HR44 won't work at all. Perhaps it's hidden in the attic? Keep us posted on what your friendly tech discovers.
