DirecTV website receiver management page says not connected to Internet

The website management page says my receive is not connected to the Internet. I've checked the receiver itself and it shows that it's connected. I can also stream demand content.

I want to connect so I can refresh my receiver. I'm hoping this will fix my issue which is that when I select "channels I get" it still displays all channels.

My receiver is an HR24-500.

Hello @Bjbubba, we know the importance of ensuring all your equipment is properly connected and working as expected.

We appreciate the accurate and prompt response and help from @detuch254 and @shannon02. To get your service refreshed, please follow the steps listed here:

  1. Go to My equipment & services.
  2. Review the equipment you have and identify the impacted receiver(s).
  3. Select Refresh receiver to begin. This takes a minute or two and may briefly interrupt your service.

If refreshing service doesn’t fix the issue, try restarting your receiver by pressing the red reset button on the side. Learn more about restarting your DIRECTV receiver.

Let us know how it goes, we're here for you.

I hate to break it to you, but that website management receiver page is the most inaccurate source ever when it comes to identifying whether your receiver is connected to the internet or not.

You don’t need an internet connection to refresh your HR24. All refreshes and authorizations are done via satellite, not the internet.

When you say’ Channels I get’ and it shows all channels, a refresh could possibly fix the issue. Just click ‘Refresh receiver’. No internet required.

If the refresh doesn’t fix the issue after 5 minutes, try a red button reset behind the door that says ‘PRESS.’ Additionally, you can do a Keyword Search for CLEARMYBOX

It worked. I did a refresh and a reset.

The DirecTV website is misleading though. It says the refresh takes 5 minutes and that you won't be able to use the receiver while it's happening. In reality nothing seems to happen to the receiver when you do the reset.

We're glad to know that the receiver is working properly now @Bjbubba.

It's true that receivers are unable to be used some minutes during the reset process. Once the reset is done, please, try to get access to your channels, and enjoy your programming.

In case you need further assistance with this matter just let us know. We'll be here to help.

I live in a rural community and my electric service has problems with it going out a lot.  The problem I have is when the power is back on and my tv box has reset, Directv keeps telling me that it hasn’t had guide info for several hours.  I will reset my tv box again and it still tells me it hasn’t had guide info again.  I try to be patient and I go in to the internet connection and have to turn the internet back on, thinking that might be the problem, but it’s not.  Every time I go to reconnect the internet, it reconnects the internet, but I can go back and I have to reconnect again.  Why does it not have the internet connected all the time?

The guide data comes from the sats and may take 1 or 2 days to rebuild so your dish may need to be aligned if it doesn't rebuild in that time.  DTV doesn't need internet to work it is only needed if you want On Demand, start from the beginning or to pay for PPV with the remote, most likely your router is dumping the connection for some reason as it is what is controlling the IP address given to the receiver.  You should think about getting a UPS battery back up.  Stop resetting the receiver as 2 resets within a 30 minute period dumps the guide data and other things.

My HR54 says it is connected to my home internet network, however I can not watch any of my dvr's on my smart device away from home but can watch my satellite channels.  However I cannot watch my local channels on my phone/tablet even when I am at home connected to my internet network.  Also, my online account also says my HR54 is not connected to wifi even thought my receiver says it is.

p.s.  I had my system installed a month ago, and I have never been able to watch my dvr remotely on my tablet/cell phone.

Well, you can’t watch it remotely right now with the newer app anyway. Besides, you need to register the HR54 for mobile DVR and then download the programs from your home network BEFORE leaving.

Not being able to watch local channels could be an issue with the newer ‘DIRECTV’ app as well.

although, you still should verify that Location Services is TURNED ON so that the devices can find the right local channels. Once done, you should theoretically be able to watch them.

DTV dropped streaming from the DVR when outside of your home network a few years ago but you still can download programs to watch if they fix that bug.

wesbite says not connected to the internet, but it is. I've refreshed, resetted and nothing works. I need help please. Also, the new mobile app won't let me watch my DVR from the next room even though we are on the same internet connection. The mobile app says that there is no connected DVR. Something is wrong. My model is HR54/200. As far as I know I've never been able to watch DVR recordings on my Ipad from the DTV app.
