Disable DoublePlay ??
My wife keeps starting DoublePlay by mistake and it drives me crazy.
Is there any way to disable it completely?
I never did understand what it added that I couldn't get simply by pressing record on both channels and switching between them.
Seems like this would be something that could be added to the Setup Menu. Most of the features should be able to be enabled or disabled via Setup.
Thanks,
Bob

No, there's no way to turn off Double Play. But it should never get in your way. After 90-minutes of not being used it will disable itself. If that's not the behavior you're seeing, then something is wrong.

Why do you want to disable it? It should not get in the way of anything, in fact on the old TiVo boxes it is on permanently and never switches off. Why do you think having it on causes a problem?

Tell the Mrs. to stop pressing the down arrow button and she'll never know if Double Play is running or not.

Thanks for the responses. This issue is just a nuisance and not a big end-of-the-world issue. Every time I have a show scheduled to record I get a pop-up that I have to respond to in order to get the recording to continue.
As far as telling the Mrs to stop pressing the down arrow button, been there done that, 100s of times. Finally given up. She is technically challenged. We use the DTV remote to control the TV functions such a volume. She still, after years, doesn't understand how I can also change the volume using the TV remote. She doesn't understand how you can record two shows and watch a third show from the DVR. I have given up trying to explain as she just get frustrated and mad at me.
I was pretty sure the answer would be, "you can't" but it never hurts to ask.
Again, thanks for the replies,
Bob

Give the Mrs. a link to the forums. Hang around here for a few days and she'd be an expert.

Yea, that sounds good in practice. As she gets older she uses technology less and less. It has been at least 2 1/2 months since she has even checked her e-mail.
I have told all of her friends that if they have something important to send it to me instead of her.

Not sure which part actually disables an active Double Pkay, but this is what I did and was able to ACTUALLY Double Play the two channels I wanted to double play.
I set all 5 record channels active on my Genie, NOT recording the show on Doyble Play I DIDN'T want to follow. Then I flipped between the two channels I wanted to double play with the PREV button a few times. Next I pressed SELECT about 20+ times on one channel. Then I pressed PREV to return to the other channel I WANTEDTo Double Play and pressed SELECT 20+ times. After that, Double Play was NOT active.
