Dish relocation-temporary location

Our building is having roof repairs. All dishes will be removed. Can Directv relocate a dish temporarily on the same building and re-install once the repairs are complete?

Most likely they can but you would probably have to pay for them to move it if they relocate your Sat. would it not be easier to just leave it where they put it so it does not have to be moved a second time.  If I was you I would think maybe about doing DirecTV Stream then you would only need them to reinstall your Sat when they are done with your roof and you could stream their service while your roof is getting repaired.

You own the dish to remove, DTV will only install a new dish once.

If you can download the DTV app to the TV then you can stream to it otherwise you need a streaming device connected to the TV.

@mnsmith813 yes, you can stream DIRECTV STREAM via your TV, being that you have a streaming device like a Fire TV stick or Roku or your TV is a smart TV that supports the DIRECTV STREAM app.

As a side note, you can also download the DIRECTV app on your tablet or phone to watch it there for the time being. This does not require you to sign up for DIRECTV STREAM. You may also access DIRECTV satellite online on your computer.

While the dish is disconnected you will only be able to watch recorded programs on the TV or with the app on a mobile device.

Carefull there are two separate services mentioned that are being mixed in explanations.

The DirecTV (DTV) app cannot be downloaded on a TV or any other TV streaming device. This is a side perk of the satellite service. To view on a TV, you use a receiver/client.

DIRECTV STREAM is a streaming-only provider. It is also owned by AT&T but has nothing to do with the satellite service. You would be paying for this in addition to your DirecTV account.

You have missed the fact DTV is now combining the apps into one.

Combining the apps into one is problematic. Satellite service is for a single residnece per account so a streaming app on TV would open up higher risk of account sharing plus not paying for the authorized TVs as intended for the service.

Now if the app can have different permissions based on if you have DirecTV or DIRECTV STREAM, that could work. But the app should not be completely unified unless both services are made into one.

As long as the services are separate, the streaming-only one should have a unique name to stop people from confusing the two.
