Do I have to connect internet to tv for DVR service?

Do I have to connect internet to tv for DVR service? And if I don't want my tv connected to the internet, will my DVR service still work?

DTV doesn't need internet to work.  The TV should be connected to the internet to receive software updates.

DirecTV is service by satellite. Your DirecTV box being internet connected is not a requirement at all, simply a way to get optional features (On Demand). Your DirecTV box would be the DVR itself getting service from the satellite.

And your TV being connected to internet or not makes no difference either. That would just be for any features built into the TV set itself.

DTV receivers have to be manually connected to the internet either by using the SSID and password to connect to your WiFi network or plugging an Ethernet cable from your router to it.
