Does Connected Home Adapater use DHCP on Ethernet side?

Have a boat with a motorized KVH SatTV antenna feeding a KVH TVHub, to SWM, PI, SWM Splitter to an HR24-200, and two H25's.  SatTV working great BUT whole home DVR not working yet shows licensed, so I bought a DCAU1R0-01 Connected Home adapter....SolidSignal forgot to tell me that was needed when I bought the package.   Followed steps to connect DCAU1R0 to router, power, RG6 into SWM Splitter and reset network interface on each end point still no love.   Each end point shows no coaxial network detected.

Upon initial power to the DCAU1R0 power light on, network light flashes 20 times, ethernet port flashes 2 times and cycle repeats.   When the ethernet port flashes my router WebUI would freeze as if it was seeing a conflicting IP on the network and choking on it.   SolidSignal sent me a new DCAU1R0 and HR24-500 claiming it's one of these that are bad.   Before I start plugging in new components one thing I noticed before, is the DCAU1R0 never shows up in my Router's IP tables.   I'm wondering does it use DHCP on the ethernet side or does it have a hard coded IP?   Also curious if anyone knows what IP range will be used on the COAX side?   Will my boat 192.168.101.X network be extended to the COAX network or does it use a different subnet range?

DO have anything Connected to the HR24 ( Lan port) ? it should have nothing connected to it.

The DCAU1RO connects as you have it ( lan jumper) to your a port on your router/Switch --Coax to a spare port on your swm splitter.

After connecting --use your remote on all your receivers --Check the whole home settings on each (you do have whole home enabled on your account?

That would allow the Hr25's to see the playlist of the DVR and set recordings to the DVR. you do not need it to connect the Hr24 just to the internet.

The Hr24 using Menu Settings internet should show a all the setting for you local Network 9it will have it's own IP address as well as your h25's --it will have a sub set of 169. xxx.x.xxx --that's how the receivers share info over that subset.

The Hr24 is the only one that will connect to the internet. as the H25's do have a hard drive.

What you can try in the hr24 is setting a STATIC IP 9from you Ip-range (just) Put in a vaild Ip address .

NOTE: once connected it will take 24 to 48hrs for the VOD to populate fully. It's not instant

Also after connected Look at menu -settings -display and (page down) it should show internet connected --if it does --then wait- for the data to download before you can use it.

When I initially couldn't get whole home DVR to work I did try to configure the HR24 to talk on my Ethernet and that didn't work.   Through a lot of searching and going back to SolidSignal they said oh yeah you need a DCAU1R0 which I purchased.  I have seen posts by other that connecting the HR24 to Ethernet disables whole home DVR but I am no longer connected to Ethernet and I have done a reset network on the HR24 so I don't think that's the issue.

Yes when I got Menu -> Whole Home DVR -> Status it shows I'm licensed/active but no network DVR's are found.

I have a Guest Network Port on my router which gives out 192.168.105.x addresses.  I plugged in the old DCAU1R0 and the new one into that port and apply power.  In my router the user access list never shows the DCAU1R0 getting an IP which makes me wonder how it get's an IP via DHCP or is a value already hard coded?   Does it need to be talking to the HR24 before it requests an IP from Ethernet?

Have you named each RECEIVER in the whole home --SINCE you only have one HDVR --you would only see (no NETWORKED DVR on the h25 menu and the Hr24 won't show it because it's the DVR only on the network.

Does the meu in Hr24 Show Connected to the internet in Display settings?

The internet Adapter Does NOT pull a IP address it only converts Internet to Coax (MOC0) allowing Traffic flow over RG6.

All RECEIVERS should How internet connect when using the menu -settings display --PAGE DOWN and see --each receiver needs to ne named (EXAMPLE) bedRM1 --Bedrm2 and sharing allowed

If your using a Guest Network --Then Make sure your router Allows ACCESS to Everything --Blocking local may be also be an issue (example FILE SHARING)  problem .. As a Guest Network are setup for limited access to your "pc" and such--just FYI.

YES I have named each location/receiver and I'm sharing my playlist.

Never has shown connected to Internet AND I need this work when no internet connection is present like out at sea.   Want to be able to call up DVR recorded shows from the H25 Stateroom receivers.   From what I understand you have to be connected to the Internet for the initial configuration but once everything is downloaded/sync'd you can run without an INET connection.

"The internet Adapter Does NOT pull a IP address it only converts Internet to Coax (MOC0) allowing Traffic flow over RG6."   For the internet adapter to participate on an Ethernet network it has to have an IPV4 address which is either hard coded into the adapter or received via DHCP from the network master router.

Your comment about the Guest Network being limited got me thinking.  I just ran a long ethernet cable to an open switch port on my primary LAN and I now see the MAC Addr in my user table and see the adapter has an IP address.

I went back to the HR24 and Menu -> Settings -> Internet Setup -> Advanced -> Reset Network settings and it still does not discover the adapter/coax network.  I have a new HR24-500 here that I think my next step is to swap out the HR24's and start from scratch.

Ok swapped out HR24's and new one has the same problem Whole Home DVR: Authorized but no coax network or Internet detected.  I'm confident the whole home network adapter is on my LAN.   The only thing left is the RG6 connection between the network adapter and the SWM Splitter.....but I installed all of the new RG6 with new connectors last month so there is no reason to doubt the coax or the connections.   BUT how about the SWM Splitter what port should the whole home network adapter go into?    There are 7 regular SWM ports and one red power pass port on lower right....I'm thinking maybe it needs to be in the power pass port?

Great Picture --Looking at the picture (notice) the 2 red ports are open --Normally --DO you have a Pi-21 or 29 Power supply? if so that should be connected to (the first 1) red port of the splitter --The DISH down lead should be connected to the single Connected (looks correct)

The all Receivers should be on Splitter ports (2-3-4) the Dongle for coax -any spare port (5) all other capped --Power you System Down and move the Connections as I suggest above --The IRD port off the power supply should be capped as well.

The RED POWER port of the splitter(1) FEEDS DC power to the LNB --By having the receiver on the IRD port of the receiver --That can cause your internet issue -

So the SWM Splitter/SPLIT8R1-02 has the Power Inserter feeding in from the bottom.  The motorized satellite dish on my boat roof is made by KVH and feeds their TV Hub via RG6, that tells the motors how to point to the Satellite while the boat is moving, which then feeds a SWM  via 13V and 18V connections.  The output of the SWM goes to the PI which then feeds the bottom of the SWM Splitter, pictured.  On the FACE of the SWM splitter are 7 capped/terminated ports and one red power pass port uncapped.   I have my the Salon HR24 (living room), connected to port 1 on the SWM Splitter, the Master Stateroom H25 (bedroom) connects to port 2, Guest Stateroom H25 (bedroom) connects on port 3, DECA/DCAU1R0 connects to port 4,  Ports 5-7 are capped and port 8 is the red power pass port in the lower right.

The LNB's are fed further upstream from the KVH TV Hub not from the SWM Splitter!  I do not have two open red ports only one on the bottom right.   I was led to believe you don't terminate a power pass port only signal ports to keep signal voltages up.

Whole Home doesn't need a DECA Home adapter only adding internet will need a DECA BB. The HR24 and H25 have the DECA circuits built in.

All a DECA Home Adapter does is remove the Ethernet signal from the coax to send it to an Ethernet port on the receiver, the DECA BB converts the Ethernet signal into something that can be put on the coax.  Whole Home doesn't need internet to work.

@sailingmagnus --Connecting the the Internet adapter rg6 to swm block then the Lan Jumper to your Internet router/Switch port --is all that is needed --

As long as Nothing is connected to the rear RJ45 port or the HR24 --That receiver should connect to the internet.

If any Lan cable is plugged into the HR24 REAR RJ45 port It will defeat connection --so remove it and reboot the Hr24 -to clear it if it needed.

The D*TV Adapter only converts your Internet to travel over COAX --no Settings are required --That's how it's designed so any D* installer can install it.

His problem is Whole Home not working not adding internet and to do that he needs a DECA BB with a power supply either the A/C power brick or USB to power it.

IIRC there is a problem with running Whole Home thru the power inserter so try using the red power port on the SWM splitter connected to the "To SWM" port on the power inserter and cap the "To IRD" port,  the dish coax connects to the single port on the bottom.

Your KVH dish will be obsolete when DTV shuts down the MPEG2 channels.

Shannon nails it!   I don't need Internet access and when away from land/marina/cellular data will not always have internet access.   I want to be able to watch shows recorded on the  HR24 in our staterooms via the H25's.   Whole Home is "authorized" when I view the status but can't seem to get the COAX network working to the home adapter.  I'll try the red port next  and report back.  Currently underway and will try Shannon's suggestion in the next day or two.

Hate the doom and gloom outlook that my new KVH antenna will become a boat anchor any time soon.  I have hope DTV will move some HD channels to Ku band which my antenna & receivers are capable of receiving.   Could always switch to Dish which has HD on Ku but has other issues I'd rather not get into here....

Unfortunately the KVH does not support DirecTV's MPEG-4 feeds. Going forward options are a slimline dish on a sled/tripod mount or the Winegard Trav'ler for RVs and such, or for boats the Intellian s6HD. Hopefully more will be available, but appears mobile dish makers are trying to clear out old stock while MPEG-2 still works in some areas as shutdown is not yet complete.

At least your boxes are fine as both MPEG-4. Though remember the H25 is SWM-only unlike all other non-Genie models.

It appears you have either a SWM8 or 16 module you can connect the power inserter to the power port on it instead of connecting it to the red power port on the SWM splitter if that is easier provided it is a 29v power inserter if not you can get one online.  You do not need the Connected Home Adapter.

SWM8, PI-29 wired to it and then to the SWM Splitter like this:
