downloading new software screen every morning, but no update?
I am assuming that my reciever is trying to download the new guide software, but for some reason it wont download, this is happening every morning when i turn on my receiver (h24/500). Im in salem NH, and directv doesnt seem to have any answers for me. is this happening to anyone else? it takes 15-20 minutes every morning to boot up. my software is 0x4db and it says there is no scheduled upgrade?

Software download failure usually is a tell tell sigh of low signal levels or the receiver is setup to the wrong dish type. Using the diagram post back signal levels and also dish type you currently have and what the H24 is setup for.

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner on the new post you create, using the example below as a guide. (The example below is only an example and not a form that will appear in your post unless you "cut" and "paste" it.) A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):
Satellite transponders (32 total at 101º)
[Most of your standard definition channels are beamed from 101ºW]
1-8 98 95 95 100 93 99 95 100
9-16 95 97 95 96 96 100 95 100
17-24 95 96 98 100 96 100 96 100
25-32 95 99 95 100 96 100 96 100
Satellite transponders (3 total at 110º)
[A few HD channels, also beamed from 99 & 103º]

9-16 NA # NA # NA NA NA NA
Satellite transponders (11 total at 119º)
[Local SD channels for some cities, Spanish package]

Satellite transponders (16 total at 99º(s)) [or 99º(b)]

How do you know if this is happening (downloading sw every morning)? My HR24/100 still shows software 0x4d1, dated 8/10, and no update scheduled. I'd really love to get this update, as I've long despised DirecTV's archaic UI.

Good stuff, thanks! Unless the schedule changes again (according to that link, I was originally in an area scheduled to get it on the 20th), it looks like I'll be getting it next week then. Can't wait!

maybe, in your post you have Boston as the major city close to you. but you said that you are in NH. if this is true, your receiver is authorized to get the update but your receivers is not finding the data dream because you are in another city.
