DVR Recording Quality
My DVR skips a second or two of whatever it is recording on a frequent basis, every one to three minutes. This is consistent across all channels I have recorded, occurs for the full length of the program, and has been going on for a long time. Mostly i record news programs, and losing a second or two of conversation once a minute makes it difficult to follow what the speakers are saying. This is very annoying and makes for unacceptable recording quality. How do I fix this? These are not HD programs. My receiver is a R16-500, regardless of what I listed in the box below. My receiver type did not appear in the list. Thanks.

First thing to try is resetting your DVR/Receiver using the red button behind the front panel access card door. See if that helps.

OK, did that. No difference. The cut-outs are more frequent if anything. Seemingly this is either a malfunction in the DVR hard disk or software, or some kind of diabolical copy-protection scheme enforced by Hollywood to make sure no one can make quality copies of program with their DVR.

OK. This symptom could be reception related. And it can also relate to dying hard drive.
Also, how is the R16's audio connected to your TV? Or AV Surround System? Any video "glitches" when the audio cuts?
Do you have other DVRs/Receivers? Any issues like this with them?
Please post back with your signal readings for each satellite's transponders (and both tuners if applicable). You'll find these readings under "Menu" -> "Setup" -> "System Setup" -> Satellite -> "View Signal Strength". Note the "+" and "-" symbols next to the "Satellite" and "Tuner" entries where you can toggle the readings between the various satellites and both DVR tuners.
Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner using these examples. A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):
Satellite transponders (32 total at 101º)
