End of Standard Service?

I have been a DirecTV customer for more than 30 years. Due the geology of my property and heavy forestation, my antenna is mounted on a post approximately 250 feet away from my home. I have been receiving an excellent signal all these years. Several years ago I looked into upgrading to the HD system but was advised by the service technician that it would not work due to the distance from my house to the antenna. I have continued to use the standard system ever since. I have now been informed that you intend to discontinue standard service by the end of September, 2020. Is this true?

DirecTV is in the middle of doing their complete MPEG-2/SD-only shutdown. This was the plan to retire the old satellites and SD-only TVs haven't been made in at least a decade.

The shutdown started April 2019 and was expected to be completed sometime this year. However it seems to have slowed down a bit, presumably per stock of replacement equipment and challenges from Covid-19.

So a new dish will be needed to receive the MPEG-4 feeds. They will not know if you can receive until they attempt to do the install. What are the models of each box you have? Just in case anything can be kept with the MPEG swap.

You can use RG11 solid copper core coax for that distance and a 29V power inserter but it will be a DIY as DTV doesn't supply it.
